Thumper Was Right! | Psalm 49:3
My mouth shall speak of wisdom and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding. Psalm 49:3
Recently, I made a totally uncalled for derogatory remark about a friend. I don’t know why I did it; the thought just crossed my mind, slid to the end of my tongue and popped right out. How could I have said something so hurtful? In the Disney movie, “Bambi,” Thumper said something critical about the unique aroma of Flower, the skunk. His mother said, “Thumper, remember what your father said!” “I know,” said Thumper. “If you can’t say somethin’ nice, don’t say nothin’ at all.” How right he was! The tongue is such a dangerous thing when out of control. God knew we’d always be plagued by this weakness, so His Word is sprinkled with warnings to help us. Now, my prayer is like David’s, O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall show forth thy praise (Psalm 51:15).
