The Masterpiece of Motherhood: 3 John 4
The Masterpiece of Motherhood
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 3 John 4 (NIV)
What mother doesn’t love to boast of her children’s achievements? Tucked inside forgotten drawers or stashed in bulging boxes are the faded ribbons of former glory days. Each picture or award announces its own story—and every mother has one to tell. But it’s not just what her children do that makes a mother love them. It’s who they are—and, if they are grown—who they have become. Godly character is something she wants desperately to build into their lives. A mother may feel unskilled and overwhelmed as she looks at her raw materials and endless tasks. But when she sees the bigger picture, she understands that successful motherhood is not about achieving, but believing that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6, NIV). God will complete the masterpiece in His own time.
