Church bulletin on speed based on 2 Corinthians 3:18

We…are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)

Need for Speed

Often I see a young man driving a small, subcompact car that he has outfitted with loud mufflers and lots of chrome. And he drives it like a racecar. Most days, the spiritual vehicle I drive is like a souped-up subcompact. I am willing to make minimal adjustments to my life. Like Nicodemus who went to see Jesus at night, I want to make small changes to improve my chances of reaching God’s kingdom. But instead of allowing Nicodemus to remain in the safety of darkness, Jesus said, Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again (John 3:3, NIV). Like Nicodemus, I don’t want to hear that small, safe changes are not the way to get to God. But secretly, I am tired of driving this dinky little car. I feel the need for speed…God’s speed.
