Home: Where each lives for the other and all live for God.

Choose you this day whom ye will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

Home is a microcosm of the world. As children, we learn quickly what happens when we live only for ourselves. It creates tension within the family, much like it does in the world. When we learn to be a part of a family, we learn how to work together and how to live for each other and for God. We discover when we think of others instead of just ourselves, our world functions better.

Unfortunately, many of us haven’t come from happy, well-adjusted families. Because of sin, families don’t function perfectly. Let’s face it, there are no perfect families!

In some cases, dysfunction rules a family. We may carry scars created by a parent or relative who lived only for themselves. Perhaps an ancestor in your family chose to be selfish and generations have paid for it with dysfunction and misery.

There is hope when we choose to serve the Lord. Choose this day whom you will serve. Perhaps future generations will reap the benefits of the choice you made today.

This bulletin is from our September 22, 2013, Christian Art Weekly Worship Bulletin Service.
