Church bulletin of a sunset and steeple based on Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

At first glance, the first half of this verse doesn’t match with what we expect in the second half. How are we to come before the throne of grace? We are to come boldly so we can obtain mercy and find grace.

When I mess up, I don’t feel like approaching anyone boldly, including God. I am stubborn and by the time I figure out I blew it, I realize I have been difficult to deal with. I feel like coming before the one I offended with my tail between my legs. My feet shuffle. I can’t look them in the eye. the one offended has to ask me to speak up because I fear the whole room will hear my confession. It must be a pathetic sight!

It takes real humility to come before the throne of grace boldly. It takes a mindset that says, “I know I mess up and I need this grace daily.” It’s not just admitting our faults once. It’s admitting we all have faults and we can’t functions without God’s grace.

Today, I’m going to try to get all the formalities out of the way and come boldly before the throne of grace. Because the Lord knows, I’m going to need that grace today.
