Flow Over Me | John 4:14

Church bulletins of a desert and water based on John 4:14

But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. John 4:14 (NIV)

On a road I travel frequently is a sign that reads, “Dry Creek Water Park.” It surprises me that a water park that is supposed to be all about playing in the water would be in a place that is dry!

It’s tragic when places—or souls—run dry of the one substance that makes them work. When I disconnect myself from God, I have no reason to be, no place of refuge. Removed from my Source, I have nothing good in me. If I try to be an upright person but insist on doing it my own way, without God’s input, I will run dry. Alone, I cannot find integrity and uprightness. Alone, I have no unassailable place of protection. Only God can guard my life and rescue me (Psalm 25:20, NIV). The prayer is so simple: Dear God, flow over me. Refresh my dry and weary soul.
