Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. Isaiah 60:1

On December 6, 2013, Christianity Today published an article entitled “Modern-Day Jonah: Man Survives Three Days Under the Ocean.” It tells the story of Harrison Odjegba Okene. He was the lone survivor of a capsized tugboat accident. For three days, he was trapped in a cabin with only a pocket of air, and carbonated cola, to keep him alive. By the grace of God, rescuers found him and delivered him from a watery grave.

During his ordeal, one more thing kept him going. Before the tragedy, his wife had sent Okene a text message. It was a prayer of deliverance based on the Psalms. That light in the form of a verse kept him alive with hope.

Scripture is like a light. It helps us see through dark times. Jesus is also The Word and a light. When things look dark, He gives us the light we need to peer through a dark world.

This bulletin is from our December 15, 2013, Christian Art Weekly Worship Bulletin Service.
