Church bulletin of a flower

Each day unfolds slowly, petal by petal, to reveal God’s extraordinary splendor.

All the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord. Numbers 14:21 (KJV)

Life is a gift, best unwrapped slowly, but most of my days pass by in a blur—especially this time of year. Between work, managing a household, helping kids with homework, meetings, doctor’s appointments, and the rest, I barely have time to catch my breath, much less stop and smell the flowers.

In times like these I need God’s gentle reminder to just take a deep breath and slow down. Life isn’t about how fast we accomplish our tasks, but about the hearts we touch and memories we make along the way. Each day is filled with opportunities and possibilities to make a difference in the world for God. Most of these we won’t notice if we speed through our days too quickly. God has so many things to teach us, but He needs our time and attention. He wants us to draw close and focus on Him.

Slow down a little today…. Did you notice the child who just dropped her sucker in the sand? How about the elderly man sitting alone on his front porch when you pulled into your driveway? Did you see the hummingbirds at the feeder and marvel at the way their tiny wings moved? Each of these is a gift, revealing Gods’ extraordinary splendor in the midst of our ordinary days.

I don’t want to miss a moment.
